
Dr. Frederick R Ahmann, through the University of Arizona Cancer Center, is conducting three Prostate Cancer Prevention clinical trials using Selenium, a nutritionally essential trace element . All studies are currently recruiting new participants and if you would like more information about joining one of these studies please check the eligibility criteria under each trial listed on the left.
Negative Biopsy Trial (NBT): for men at high risk of Prostate Cancer because of a persistent elevation in PSA above 4 ng/ml and had a negative biopsy
Watchful Waiting Trial (WW): for men diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and under 'Watchful Waiting' of a physician for their disease.
Preprostatectomy Trial (PREP): for men who have been diagnosed with non-metastatic prostate cancer that have not yet had a radical prostatectomy.
NEWS 08/27/2003: The Watchful Waiting Trial is closed to enrollment. The Preprostatectomy Trial is open to enrollment only within Arizona.
NEWS 03/24/2003: We have changed our web site name from www.selenium.arizona.edu to www.pcpp.arizona.edu. Besides selenium, Drs. Ahmann and Stratton are expanding into other methods for the prevention of prostate cancer. Stay tune for more information.
NEWS 04/04/2003: The Selenium and Lung Study, conducted by Dr. Linda Garland, is recruiting new participants and is looking for former smokers to look at how selenium affects the cells from the lung.
